What background was most represented in Winona-Montgomery Consolidated District schools in 2021-22 school year?

Black students made up 63% of the 1,176 students enrolled in Winona-Montgomery Consolidated District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.1% decrease from the previous school year.

Winona Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 638 students.

A snapshot of Winona-Montgomery Consolidated District schools showed 63% of students were Black and 34.2% white.

Winona-Montgomery Consolidated District roughly covers two schools within Montgomery County and has a main office in Winona.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
