Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black was most represented background in Carroll County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 54.9% of the 851 students enrolled in Carroll County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 3.8% increase over the previous school year.

J.Z. George High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 474 students.

A snapshot of Carroll County School District schools showed 54.9% of students were Black, 37.8% were white, and 4.3% Hispanic.

Carroll County School District roughly covers two schools within Carroll County and has a main office in North Carrollton.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
